That Seaside Seventies Style

That Seaside Seventies Style

Back in 2011 Christopher Kane did something with a lot of crochet – yeah you remember? And well seventies revival just seems to have stuck. We started to see low hemlines skirt the floor, everything in A-line and don’t even get me started on paisley. Now we’re seeing knitted cropped tops and bell bottoms and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. The seventies are here to stay. Are you in?

At Seaside Boutique we have some laidback pieces that fit right in with the seventies trend. We love the casual frills and flowing, wide sleeves that compliment our cool LA style. Here are a few of our fashion seventies picks. Get out your record player (or your dad’s), stick some ABBA on and have a read.

Bell Sleeve Cold Shoulder Top

Get ahead of the S/S16 trend and pre-order our Cold Shoulder Top! The loose cut gives it a laidback feel that any item needs to possess for the seventies look. However, it’s those frilled bell sleeves that really take us right back to the seventies. This is such an easy piece to dress up or down. Pair it with some skinny jeans – or denim flares – and some killer platforms. Add some statement earrings and wear your hair loose. You don’t have to give this outfit a second thought.

V-Neck Peasant Top

If you’re looking to make more of a seventies statement, then you need a bold pattern. Our Peasant Top is bang on trend in a fun tie-dye print that first became popular back in the sixties. The style takes inspiration from boho gypsy blouses that are perfect as the weather starts to get warmer. Pair them with some shorts to head down to the beach and maybe spin a few braids in your hair. Take a denim jacket to throw on as you welcome in those cool summer evenings.

Bellsleeve Crochet Top

You didn’t think we’d forget to talk about crochet did you? Crochet is one of the coveted seventies materials that designers are favouring again for 2016. Forget bell bottoms when we have the perfect Bellsleeve Crochet. Just like the Cold Shoulder Top you can wear this piece from day to night. It would look great with some denim shorts, round sunnies – think John Lennon – and a fun wedge for a casual day look. Carry the look to evening with a suede mini skirt. Suede is also super popular for the seventies look and is perfect for the transition from winter to spring. Don some knee high boots and you are ready for wherever the night takes you.

Summer is about relaxing, taking a break, having new experiences and having fun. How better to do this than journey back to the seventies. Let your hair down. Play with your wardrobe. Make it your own. The seventies is here for some fun!
